FINNZ’s General Manager, Mark Jones is heading over to Scotland this month to present alongside Fisheries Consultant, Bruce Shallard at the International Institute of Fisheries Economics and Trade (IIFET) Conference. Over 350 delegates from around the world are expected to attend the conference which is taking place in Aberdeen, Scotland on 11 – 15 July.
This year the conference will also include a special Industry and Policy Day which will provide opportunities for economists and market researchers to network with business owners and policy makers and to discuss how well designed research can help inform policy and business decisions.
Mark and Bruce will be presenting on their experiences in the sector with a particular look at how New Zealand manages its fisheries data, the changes in governance and service delivery and how that has improved the efficiency of data capture, data quality and accessibility of data used to manage and prosecute New Zealand’s commercial fisheries.
As well as sharing past experiences Mark will also talk to the future of our data management services, introducing FINNZ ELEMENTS, our new cloud-based Fisheries Management System about to be released in New Zealand. ELEMENTS is an innovative and customisable tool designed to support all aspects of Fisheries administration including; the management of fishing registers, licensing, permits, catch entitlement, reporting, trading and financial management activities.
This an exciting event for FINNZ and provides us with a great opportunity to tell our story and also explore further opportunities across the sector.
